Summer camp in Margao
PANJIM: Samrat Sports and Cultural Club of Pajifond, Margao will
organize summer camp for children from May 1 to 15, at Junta
Quarters Cultural Centre hall, near BPS Club, Margao from 8.30 am
to Noon. Children from KG to standard 8 are eligible to
participate. The camp is in junior and senior category.
This summer camp will include more than 30 skill building
activities and competitions, including painting, drawing, wealth
out of waste, personality development, body language and
dramatics, clay moulding, public speaking, dances, yoga, group
singing, industrial visits, visit to military camp, etc.

World Homeopathy Day offer
PANJIM: To mark the 259th birth anniversary of Dr Samuel
Hahnemann, founder of homeopathy, on April 10, Dr Batra’s
healthcare corporate will celebrating world homeopathy month by
offering free consultation at their clinics across India. Free
consultation will be offered at Dr Batra’s 141 clinics throughout
the month of April.
Homoeopathy is the second largest system of medicine in the world
today, according to World Health Organization and is used by over
500 million people worldwide.
The global homeopathy market is slated to touch Rs 52,000 crore by
2017. The Indian homeopathy market is expected to reach Rs 5,873
crore mark in 2017. Homeopathy is practiced in 85 countries with
more than 150 million in India.
Camp for visually impaired
PANJIM: The National Association for the Blind (NAB), Goa State
Branch, is organizing a three-day live-in camp, from April 22 to
24, for about 75 visually impaired persons at St Anthony’s High
School, Monte-de-Guirim.
In the centennial year of the school (1992 & 1993), two camps were
held. At these camps, NAB Goa informs the participants of the new
developments in the education curriculum and vocational training.
There are approximately 4000 visually impaired (blind) in Goa,
which include a large number of working and self-employed adults
and school going children. This camp is held mainly to bring the
visually impaired together. Fr Steve Rodrigues, Provincial of the
Capuchin Order is Goa, will be the chief guest and Dr Homiyar
Mobedji, Director – Projects, Enable India, NAB, Bangalore, will
be the guest of honor.
Musical festival at Cortalim
PANJIM: Parishioners of St Philip and St James Church will
organise their 2nd musical summer festival from May 9 to 11, on
the school grounds, in aid of the new extension block of Our Lady
of Perpetual Succour HS building.
The 3-day event will comprise of game stalls, food stalls,
competition for kids and youngsters, dance presentations, Konkani
skits and loads of prizes. Top most bands will be in attendance.
The village children will also showcase their talents. Those
entertainers such as bands, dance groups and stage performers
interested in participating are requested to contact parish church

TAG’s acting, singing courses
PANJIM: In order inculcate acting and singing amongst the younger
generation, TAG will organize a workshop on acting and singing for
youngsters in the age group of 10 years to 18 years from May 5 to
30 at TAG’s Conference Hall, at Campal Trade Centre, Campal,
Panjim. A total of 25 applicants will be permitted. The classes
will be held thrice weekly from 3 pm to 5.15 pm. Each participant
will be awarded certificate and will be paid a stipend. TAG will
appoint persons with specialized knowledge and expertise in the
field as resource persons. Interested persons may apply in the
prescribed application form available in the office of TAG, by
April 30.
Prayer group meet
PANJIM: Community of the Way, Catholic Charismatic prayer group
will meet on April 23, at 6 pm at Jesuit House for a reflection on
The Walk to Emmaus, (Lk 24:13).
Borda college results
PANJIM: Government College of Commerce, Borda, Margao, will be
declaring the results of examination for Sem II and IV on April
21. The ex-students who have appeared for the said exam can
collect their results on the same day from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.
They should also inform the College office whether they propose to
appear for special supplementary examination in May 2014 to clear
their backlog.
World Book Day
PANJIM: Shree Saraswati Mandir is having its annual prize
distribution ceremony on April 23 which is also the World Book
Day, at Fomento Hall, Shree Saraswati Mandir, 3rd floor, Panjim at
4 pm. These prizes are for short stores and poetry writing in
Konkani and Marathi organized in memory of Bakibab Borkar and
Laxmanrao Sardessai. Dilip Borkar will be the chief guest.
Scheme for students
PANJIM: The Rotary Club of Panaji Mid Town has been encouraging
club members to accommodate summer vacation trainees from 12th
standard and those pursuing graduation. The club intends to offer
this facility for desiring students through the ‘Earn while you
learn’ scheme of one month duration wherein the trainee would be

Passion service held at Sao Pedro
PANJIM: The Parishioners of Sao Pedro Church, Bainguinim, Old Goa,
had their maiden solemn ceremony to commemorate the passion and
death of Jesus Christ.
Hundreds of parishioners and visitors participated in the Passion
service and the procession. The procession was led by the parish
priest, Fr Visitacao Monteiro.
