MARGAO: In an interesting development the South Delhi church demolition issue has come to haunt the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as party loyalist and youth leader Lourenco Da Silva with four other youths resigned from the party on Wednesday.

Lourenco, who hails from Nuvem, has also been part of the anti-coal movement in the State.
Speaking to the media Lourenco said that he prefers to stand by truth than be with lies dished out by AAP national convenor and Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal over his ignorance of the demolition.
He said that the chronology of events shows that the demolition of the church took place during the early hours of July 12, whereas Kejriwal arrived in the State late July 13th afternoon and trivialised the issue by denying any knowledge about it until his arrival in Goa.
Lourenco said that he is deeply hurt over the demolition carried out illegally by the government machinery of Delhi. “The desecration of the Holy Eucharist by not allowing it to be removed is inexcusable”, he said.
“I am ashamed to be part of the party that offers lame excuses by pushing blame on others. I have hence resigned from the party”, said Lourenco.
He also said that if the church is not rebuilt at the site within five months, he would distribute cakes to all catholic volunteers of AAP as a reminder of the role played by the party in the demolition.
As informed by the sources, Galdinius D’Souza a youth leader from Benaulim, who resigned from the party along with Lourenco, said that the party was projected as a party against corruption so much so that volunteers used to contribute small donations to run its affairs.
He said that suddenly huge funds were flowing into political campaigns and no answers were forthcoming from any of the local or Delhi leaders as to the source of such funds.
“It’s very clear. Big corporate hands have taken over the management of the party to loot Goa. I don’t wish to betray Goa”, Galdinius said.
