TILAMOL: Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi- Paroda defeated St Alex Higher Secondary School, Curtorim 7-6 (2-2) via the tie-breaker to emerge champions of the U-19 Zone IV football tournament for the third consecutive year.
In the final played at Tilamol Panchayat ground, both the teams were tied 2-2 at normal time. Jolvio Fernandes put Damodar HSS ahead in the ninth minute. St Alex HSS cancelled the lead in the 21st minute through Ferdinand Fernandes’ free-kick.
St Alex HSS took the lead through Irfan Yadwad from the spot kick in the 25th minute. In the second session, Tilroy Travasso equalised off the 40-yarder free-kick in the 68th minute that beat goalkeeper.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Fredrich Fernandes, Foley Dias, Mackson Dias, Jolvio Fernandes and Tilroy Travasso scored for Damodar HSS while Irfan Yadwad, Ferdinand Fernandes, Ashley Furtado and Myron Silva found the mark for St Alex HSS.
Damodar HSS will now meet the winner of Zone III in the inter-zonal final.
