MARGAO: The Ambelim gram sabha on Sunday chaired by Sarpanch Loretta D’Silva, resolved to allow Sanquilo Tollem project, 10 MLD treatment plant for drinking water for the Ambelim, Assolna and Velim villages after concerned government engineer gave a detail presentation at gram sabha.
Local MLA Benjamin Silva was also present at the gram sabha. Engineers from the department clarified to the locals that Phase I of the project will irrigate the fields and the second phase would purify water for drinking purpose. Villagers gave the green signal for the project with condition that it should be beneficial for irrigation purpose to local famers.
Gram sabha also adopted a resolution to give house number and collect house tax from structures build illegally in the village provided that same do not cause any inconvenience to any one; however they informed that collection of taxes would not mean that the body has legalized the same.
