QUEPEM: Maina Sports Club knocked out Cortalim Villagers 3-1 via tie-breaker to enter the semi-finals of the Fr Agnelo Youth Inter-Village Football tournament, organised by Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda, at Panchayat grounds, Avedem-Quepem, on Thursday.
In the first half, Cortalim Villagers dominated the game and kept their opponents in the defensive third.
Jayson Pereira of Cortalim Villagers missed two golden opportunities to score.
In the second half, Maina Sports Club made all efforts to break the deadlock. Savio Fernandes of Maina could have scored a goal for his team but failed to capitalise on a perfect cross sent in by his teammate.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Savio Fernandes, Joven Dias and Casmiro Fernandes scored for the winners while Roston Vaz netted for Cortalim Villagers.
