PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said that his coalition government is made out of sacrifices by the people who belong to different kind of thinking and hence “their sacrifices’ needs to be recognized to take Goa to a different level.
In his first public meeting addressing the Panjim voters, called ahead of the scheduled by-polls on August 23, Parrikar took dig at the opposition Congress accusing it of not able to digest the fact that the Government is stable.
“This government is formed out of some sacrifices. It is the way you look at the things. You can look at the bottle as half empty or half filled. I find it full as half of water and half of air,” he said addressing the crowd over 600 workers.
“The current coalition government has different kind of component representing different interests. But in common they represent Goan ethos,” Chief Minister said adding that the government will retain interest of everyone who are in the coalition.
Parrikar, BJP Panjim candidate, begin his speech by recognizing the sacrifice made by his former aid and ex MLA Siddharat Kuncolienkar, who tendered his resignation calling for by-election. “I recognize Siddharat’s quick reaction on the resignation. In today’s world it is very rare to find such things and it will be seen only our government and the party,” he said.
“When coalition and party wanted me to come back, many MLAs offered to resign including Nilesh cabral but Siddharat had told me on the very same day of counting that he will resign that day I want him to do so. His sacrifice is supreme,” he stated in presence of Siddharat.
Chief Minister in his speech recognized that Goa Forward party president and Minister Vijai Sardesai whose vote bank is different from BJP but still sacrificed for the sake of Goa. “He was always in clash with BJP. His vote bank was against BJP but still he made the sacrifice. He did not join us for some selfish gain,” he said adding being part of government you are bound to get the Ministerial berth.
He also said that the leaders like MGPs Sudin Dhavalikar and Independent legislator Rohan Khaunte, Govind Gawade, have sacrificed for the sake of Goa by joining the coalition government.
“All this sacrifices from siddharat to vijay to khaunte to sudin to gawade to gaonkar they have to be recognized to take State to a different level,” Parrikar commented. Dhavalikar, Khaunte and Sardessai were part of the meeting, which also saw presence of Union Minister for State for AYUSH Shripad Naik.
Taking dig at Congress’s negative promotion, Parrikar said that “they are not able to digest that the government is stable and hence anyhow want to create instability”.
Reacting to Congress claim that no development has been undertaken in the constituency past 22 years, Parrikar demanded that Congress should submit the list of works it has done for Goa during its term from 1996 to 2000 and from 2005-2012.
Right from market complex to Mala Bridge to, Dona Paula-Miramar road, Dona Paula to Bambolim road, IFFI, Cujira complex, third mandovi bridge, etc is what BJP has given to Panjim, he said.
