VASCO/MARGAO: Three persons, two of whom were in their prime youth, died in three separate road accidents in South Goa on Sunday.
According to Vasco Police, Ratnesh Naik from Queeny Nagar, Vasco, was proceeding on his motorcycle (GA-06-J-6700) from Chicalim to Queeny Nagar when the two-wheeler rammed into the rear bumper of aviation fuel tanker (KA-19-B-7649) at cross road junction near SAG Ground, Chicalim, in the wee hours of Sunday.
Police further informed that Naik fell on the road and sustained serious head injuries. He was rushed to GMC Hospital, where he declared dead on admission. Vasco Police arrested the tanker driver and is investigating the case.
In another accident, Shashikant Yadav (18) and his friend were proceeding on a scooter (GA-06-J-1926) from Bogmalo to Colva for a football match at about 6.15 am.
According to Verna PSI Anand Shirodkar, on reaching Cansaulim T-junction speed breaker, Yadav who was riding the scooter lost control of the vehicle and dashed against a stray dog and fell down and sustained head injuries.
Police further informed that Yadav was rushed to Hospicio at Margao, where he was declared dead on admission. PSI Shirodkar said the body is kept at the Hospicio morgue for autopsy and is investigating the case.
In the tragic accident on Margao–Ponda highway on Sunday afternoon a 21-year youth, Melvin Fernandes, resident of Vanxem, Loutulim who was riding a Bajaj Discover motorcycle GA-08-L-1272 lost his life when he rammed behind a truck MH-22-2933 when both vehicles were proceeding from Margao to Borim.
According to Maina Curtorim police the accident happened at 2.15 pm on Sunday near HP Gas agency, Tembi, Raia when Fernandes who was proceeding from Fatorda to Loutulim and trailing behind the truck lost control of the bike when the truck applied brake on the turn and rammed behind the truck in which he suffered grievous head injuries and died on the spot.
