BENAULIM: Sporting Club Davorlim downed St Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna – Siolim 3-0 to lift the 42nd Cana-Benaulim trophy organised by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.
Both the teams played attacking brand of football in the first session but failed to find the mark on many occasions.
In the 60th minute, Clifton Rebello opened the scoring for Sporting Davorlim.
Two minutes later, Mabel Miranda doubled the lead. Valmiki Miranda made the issue safe for Sporting by scoring the third goal.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 40,000 while the runners-up collected Rs 30,000 plus trophies.
Isabel Juliana Fernandes, Principal of Holy Trinity HSS, Benaulim was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Filomena Luis Costa, PI Colva police station, Diella Fernandes, Sarpanch VP Cana-Benaulim, Anthony D’Silva, club officials and other dignitaries.
