PANJIM: Mines department officials today met with mining company representatives including Sesa and Salgaocar to find a method on how the quantity of ore stock lying at stockyards was to be re-verified and how to verify the grade of the stock present in those piles.
The Supreme Court appointed monitoring committee has asked the mines department to submit a report after re-verification by Dec 15.
The committee has asked the State government to re-verify the amount of ore at jetties, stockyards and lease site, conduct a panchnama and submit a report by December 15, officials said. The Supreme Court in its order had directed the monitoring committee to ascertain the quantity of ore stocked at stackyards and e-auction the same. The entire process of verification of the inventory, e-auction and deposit of sale proceeds in fixed deposits will be monitored by the committee, which has to submit its report before the Court on February 18, 2014.
Meanwhile, the department has also raided a quarry at Bicholim and seized some machinery.
