Aditee emerges champion

Aditee Prabhugaonkar with 4.5 points walked away with the 2nd Sita Pandhari Raikar Memorial Taluka level chess tournament trophy at Shri Shradhanand Hall, Painginim, Sunday.

CANACONA: Aditee Prabhugaonkar with 4.5 points walked away with the 2nd Sita Pandhari Raikar Memorial Taluka level chess tournament trophy at Shri Shradhanand Hall, Painginim, Sunday.

In all, 117 players participated in the tournament organised by Canacona Sports Academy and sponsored by Ratnakar Raikar.

In the open category, Aditee stood first while Tatush Sawant, Kedar Acharya and Rupesh Prabhugaonkar, each having 4 points, were joint second. Seer Petkar with 3.5 points was third.

In the under-15 category, Minerva Dessai with 6 points came first. Adil Dangri with 5.5 points stood second, Ramnath Gaonkar, Prem Joshi and Kishan Pagi with 5 points each came joint third.

Venkatesh Master with 5 points came first in U-12 category, while Kaushik Dhuri (4.5) and Mahesh Desai(4.5) were joint second. Animesh Prabhugaonkar (4) and Prasmit Bhat (4) were positioned jointly in third position.

Chetan Acharya and Mahendra Falldessai gave away the prizes. The tournament was inaugurated by Shrdhanand Vidyalaya HM, Madhukar Shenvi, Nirankar Vidyalaya and HM Hemant Kamat.

Canacona Football Academy office-bearers Anant Agni and Shailendra Naik were present.
