JD (U) promises to return SEZ, Mopa land to owners

PANJIM: After Trinamool Congress, the Janata Dal (United) in Goa has promised voters to give back the land to the owners, which was acquired by the government for various projects including special economic zones (SEZs) and Mopa Airport.

Addressing a press conference, JD (U), Goa chief John Philip Pereira said that the party manifesto, which would be out shortly, would lay more thrust on scrapping of regional plan 2021 along with giving away the land, owned by State Government, to its original owners.

“Though SEZ policy has been scrapped by government, huge track of land acquired for the purpose has not gone back to its actual owner,” he said adding ‘the land acquired for Mopa airport, would also reverted back’.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar led party is all set to contest in 15 seats for the forthcoming assembly election. The party has already declared its candidates in Vasco, Panjim and Quepem constituencies.

Pereira said that before election, the party will try to invite Kumar to woo the voters in Goa.

Meanwhile, party’s Panjim candidate Dominic Savio Fernandes on Monday released the manifesto with an assurance to solve traffic problem, garbage menace and development of St Inez nullah.
