VASCO: Mundivel Sports Club staged a splendid rally to hold fancied Laxmi Prasad Sports Club to a 1-1 draw in a GFA’s Second Division play-ff league match at Tilak Maidan, here, Friday.
Laxmi Prasad were leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a neat finish by Shaikh Ali off a pass by Sidhesh.
Within ten minutes of the second half, Mundivel wasted a golden opportunity to draw level when Laxmi Prasad keeper D’Souza brought down Snako Dias in his box. But the resultant spot kick by Esiee Dias was smartly parried away by D’Souza for an abortive corner.
There was not much D’Souza could do when a minute later, off a neat build up from the flanks, nippy Mundivel substitute striker Kevin Fernandes met the cross into the box with a perfect volley to score a well deserved equaliser.
The teams were unable to break the deadlock despite some spirited play in the closing
