Bicholim Police on Monday arrested a woman and her daughter from Aldona in connection with jewellery theft at Bicholim.
According to Bicholim Police, the duo, Anju V Paul and her daughter, Preeti, allegedly decamped with a gold chain worth Rs 70,000 from a jewellery shop belonging to one Jayesh Vernekar in Bicholim market.
Police said the women were caught in the CCTV while taking away the gold chain.
Later, the CCTV footage was shown on several local channels after which the police learnt that the duo was sighted in a hotel at Baga. But when the police team went to Baga they did not find them. However, based on the mobile phone number, the police traced the duo in Mumbai.
The police team led by PSI Ditendra Naik visited Mumbai and nabbed the women involved in the crime and also recovered the gold chain. Police is investigating the case.
