NAGOA-VERNA: Salgaocar Football Club looked to have returned to winning ways following their impressive 4-0 win over Guardian Angel Sports Club 4-0 in the GFA professional league match held at Nagoa Panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Guardian Angel SC enjoyed initial stages of the game but their player Josley Dias squandered three open chances. The Curchorem side who dominated the play just couldn’t get their acts right as Agnelo Colaco also missed his chance in the 10th minute.
Salgaocar FC’s Chaitan Komarpant was instrumental in their attack as he constantly created passes and moves for the striker—Devendra Murgaonkar.
However, in the 35th minute, Stephen Satarkar scored the first for the Greens.
Later Ashwin Fernandes should have netted for Salgaocar whose downward header almost entered the goal but Guardian Angel SC keeper Pratheesh Vadakke timely saved the ball.
In the second half, Salgaocar FC’s Chaitan Komarpant sent in a long ball to substitute Selwin Frazier but the midfielder failed to score.
However, in the 47th minute, Selwyn finally doubled the account when he converted a Chaitan’s assist.
Thereafter Stephen Satarkar netted the third for Salgacar and substitute Fhezer Gomes made it 4-0 for Salgaocar in the 87th minute.
