CANACONA: Claiming that he has legal documents to occupy the house which was recently demolished at Palolem Beach, the Dutch national has urged Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to take suitable action against Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) chief officer and others responsible for demolition of the structure.
“The house was taken on lease by me in 2004 and it was renewed on March 14 this year. Since then, it has been in my peaceful possession,” stated Salee Eden, in a complaint to the chief minister.
Eden was residing at Palolem-Canacona with his wife and a minor son.
He further claimed that in March, two persons from the locality began threatening him to vacate the house, after which he filed police complaints and approached a suitable court.
“Simultaneously, the two persons, including the landlord, filed complaint with the CMC chief officer that the house was illegal and the civic officer slapped a show-cause notice,” stated Eden.
Eden further stated that he approached Margao court with a civil suit against the landlord and another person and in two different orders passed on April 6 and April 15, with both restrained from evicting him from the house.
Eden claimed that apprehending the forced demolition of his house, he had obtained a temporary injunction and other relief from the Canacona JMFC and the suit was served on the chief officer and the matter was fixed for hearing on April 23.
