CANSAULIM: Salgaocar FC thrashed Sporting Clube de Goa 3-0 in the GFA Under-18 League match played at Cansaulim ground on Thursday.
Salgaocar FC dominated and were leading 1-0 in the first half.
Flagan Rodrigues of Salgaocar FC in the very second minute set up Liston Colaco in the box of Sporting Clube but the latter shot wide.
Ivon Costa of Sporting Clube squandered an opportunity to score in the 7th minute.
In the 21st minute, Flagan this time didn’t miss an opportunity to score with a neat placement of ball in the rival goal.
Crossing over, Salgaocar FC increased the lead by scoring in the 46th minute through Liston off a corner kick which curled and entered into the nets of Sporting Clube.
Sporting Clube had a chance to score through substitute Perryson Fernandes but his grounder shot was timely saved by Salgaocar FC goalkeeper Antonio D’Silva in the 56th minute.
As the match progress, Sporting Clube in search of goal made some moves into the rival citadel but failed to net in. In the 63rd minute, Sporting Clube defender brought down Liston. Referee made no mistake to spot the dreaded spot and awarded a penalty for Salgaocar FC which was coolly converted by Kaushik Negi to make it 3-0.
At Chicalim ground, Patrong SC and FC Neura played a goalless draw.
Both teams dominated the proceedings but failed to score goals as both the teams defended their territory well.
At Betalbatim ground, Betalbatim SC and Pax of Nagoa settled for a 1-1 draw. London Singh drew the first blood for Betalbatim SC in the 15th minute but the joy was short lived as Andrew Colaco levelled 1-1 for Pax of Nagoa in the 30th minute.
At Mandopa, Panchwadi United SC scored a solitary goal win against Ave Maria AWC. The lone goal was scored by Leonard Christo off a cross by Roston Menezes in the 50th minute.
