MARGAO: Hitting back at Fr Eremitho Rebello who criticised Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco for his silence on the Mopa airport issue for three years, the later has advised the activist priest to keep away from “political issues so that the communal harmony in the State remains intact.”
Alleging that Fr Rebello had helped the BJP to come to power, Mickky said that the activist priest has no moral right to oppose his initiative.”
Mickky warned that religious leaders would disturb the peace and harmony in the State if they take sides on political issues.
Mickky warned that if “our religious leaders come out (in support of certain issues), likewise other religious leaders too would come out (in support of or against certain issues) which would disturb the peace and harmony in the State.”
“Mopa is a political issue and the politicians have full right to oppose or support the issue. But Fr Rebello has no right to oppose my stand,” Mickky said.
