PONDA: The locals residing in Shapur Bandora on Sunday complained at the gram sabha that despite them being voters of the village, the panchayat was refusing to register their houses thereby subjecting them to hardship in getting water and electricity connections.
The Shapur residents claimed that they became voters of Bandora Panchayat in the year 1985 when they were transferred into Bandora Panchayat from Ponda Muncipal Council (PMC) during delimitation. Since then they are casting their votes as the electors of Bandora panchayat.
Some locals even showed the house tax receipt issued by PMC prior to 1985 to prove that their houses were registered with the municipality.
The locals complained that neither PMC has proper record about their transfer of houses nor the panchayat has any document.
Responding to their complaints, Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik agreed to that they are voters of Bandora. However, he that said he could not register their houses without proper document to show that their houses were registered in Ponda Municipal Council and that the panchayat office has no records to show any record or correspondence in regard to their transfer of houses from Ponda Municipality.
However, after suggestions from gram sabha members, he said he would conduct a proper investigation so as to get proper records and register their houses.
Besides this, locals passed a resolution to take possession of Kashimath ground from PWD, so that the ground would be available for locals for sports activities.
A resolution was also passed not to provide NOC to mobile tower without presentation of proper documentation by the company.
Locals also said they were facing hardship as the main road at Kashimath ground has been unnecessarily closed for flyover work which is not at all progressing. They demanded early shifting of overhead 11 kv electric lines at Kashimath ground to speed up the work of flyover and NH bypass as they are inhaling dust causing health problems in absence of lack of spraying of water and slow pace of NH work.
