PANJIM: The Congress on Tuesday demanded that the Old Goa police register a case against PWD Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) Uttam Parsekar and contractor M V Rao Infra for criminal negligence on the Bambolim-Patradevi highway project near Bambolim slope.

In a complaint lodged at Old Goa Police Station, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar claimed that during the past few years since the reopening of the new road, there have been multiple life-threatening accidents and multiple innocent citizens have lost their lives.
“The National Highway Authority of India, through its Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar for the State PWD had awarded contract for construction of the road to M/s M V Rao Infra. The road has now turned to be an accident prone zone and multiple innocent lives have been lost due to negligence of the contractor and the government personnel involved in construction of the road,” he said.
Patkar demanded that a complaint be registered against Uttam Parsekar and M V Rao Infra for being liable for acts of indulging in corrupt practices, misusing the powers vested in government office, for acts of criminal negligence, for murder and causing grievous injury.
The complaint was filed after a container truck veered off road in an attempt to save another vehicle at Bambolim on Tuesday.
