There’s some good news for those aspiring to answer all India competitive examinations even as the State government has decided to do away with the Cyberage scheme from the new financial year and instead strengthen the computer labs in the schools.
Presenting the State Budget, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said nurturing the young talent and developing the necessary skill and aptitude by providing requisite guidance for career development should be the aim of any government and that his government intends to undertake it.
He announced the proposal to set up Goa Institute for Administrative Careers (GIAC) which would provide career guidance and prepare the Goan youth for various competitive examination conducted by UPSC, RBI, GPSC, Railway Board, Banking Board, Staff Selection Commission, Defence Academies, etc.
This step, he said, will not only provide a sense of direction to the younger generation but also open quality employment opportunities for the youth of Goa.
By another proposal, the government has decided to hike the upper limit for Scholar Scheme to Rs 6 lakh. Laboratory assistants will also be provided in all high schools, the chief minister said.
While replacing Cyberage (EDUNET) scheme from the new financial year, the government intends to strengthen computer laboratories in all high and higher secondary schools in the State.
They will be provided with an additional of 10 computers, 2 printers, and UPS, web-camera and internet connectivity for which a provision of Rs 15 crore has been made.
