mapusa: Commuting along the road from Marna Siolim to the Siolim Health Centre is turning out to be a nightmare for motorists.
Locals have pointed that the road from Marna Petrol pump to Sioim Health Centre and further from Siolim Church to the road going towards Assagao is in a pathetic condition.
Sources stated that the WRD Department had taken up the work of installation of water pipeline on the Siolim Marna stretch. However during the lockdown, the work was stopped due to which, the department failed to complete the work before the rains. This is why the commuters have been forced to travel through water-logged roads that are full of potholes.
One such person Amit Naik said during heavy rains, the road is filled with water making it difficult not only to ride but also to spot the potholes. For those not familiar with this road, it is difficult for them to see where the road continues to and its side borders. There have also been complaints about the road not being hot mixed. Recently, a part of the road was covered with tar but once it started raining, it was washed away. Locals have said it is dangerous during the night to travel on the road going towards the Holy Cross School to the Siolim Church as it is quite muddy.
Commuter Suvina Salgaonkar added, “I travel through this road daily. However now it is difficult to ride the scooter on this road because there is no road left.”
