PANNM: Commonwealth Bronze medallist Gunjal Chopdekar, student of Dr KB Hedgewar Primary School, Panjim secured first place in under-8 open in Sangli and first place in under-9 girls category at 2nd Malappuram Chess Foundation FIDE rating tournament, at Tirur, Kerala.
Gunjal Chopdekar student of Dr.K.B. Hedgewar Primary School, Panjim had also recently won the under-9 girls State chess championship at Farmagudi-Ponda.
Meanwhile Swera Ana Braganca, the Goodwill Brand Ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd won the 1st place in the U-11 (Girls) category, at th same tournament. She is the student of Our Lady of Rosary High school, Dona Paula.
Both girls are been coached by V Sivaswamy and Prassana Sivaswamy.
