PANJIM: Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar promised to review procedures which allow the Goa Medical College doctors to recommend second opinions of blood tests to be conducted at private patho labs as well as the issue of these labs overcharging patients of GMC.
Parsekar initially defended the practice being followed at GMC saying that since some tests especially the complicated ones cannot be conducted at GMC’s laboratory, blood samples are sent to “reputed laboratories outside the State, especially those in Mumbai.”
“At present there is no system in place,” Parsekar said as he promised to look into the procedures followed by the GMC.
