The extension of the ban comes against the backdrop of reports received from the Superintendent of Police, both North and South Goa, expressing the necessity to extend the ban on Pramod Muthalik and his associations for a further period of 60 days on grounds that there is apprehension of law and order problem which may endanger human life, health or safety in case the “prohibitory order” was lifted by authorities.
“The government is satisfied that there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under Section 144 (4) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 to prevent the entry of Pramod Muthalik and his associates in the whole State of Goa”, Amonkar said in the notification.
The district Magistrate and his South Goa counterpart had issued an order under Section 144 of the CrPC on August 20 and 19 respectively banning Muthalik’s entry and his associates within the jurisdiction of North and South Goa districts for a period of 60 days.
