MARGAO: Six holidaymakers from Bengaluru, comprising four men and two women, narrowly escaped drowning on Friday when they panicked after being struck by a powerful wave at Varca beach.
These six individuals were part of a group of seven tourists who were visiting Varca beach. As they ventured into the sea, a wave knocked down six of them. Observing the distress in the waters, lifeguards on duty rushed to their rescue, equipped with surfboards, rescue tubes, and jetskis. Upon reaching the struggling individuals, the lifesavers noticed that one of them was unconscious and displaying no vital signs.

The six tourists were safely brought back to shore, and CPR was administered to the unconscious individual. Thanks to their efforts, the unconscious person regained consciousness, and is now stable following medical treatment at a nearby hospital. Sandesh Velip, Gajanand Velip, Chandresh Velip, and Sandesh Gaonkar are the lifesavers who were involved in the rescue.
