PANJIM: Reacting to the recent seizure of huge quantity of Ketamine from Pissurlem, the Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) has condemned the percolation of narcotics in the villages of the State and has alleged the involvement of politicians in the trade.
The GSM on Sunday passed various resolutions related to the State during the Central Committee meeting.
Briefing on the resolutions, GSM leader Atmaram Gaonkar said, “Drugs have reached villages and politicians are involved in it due to which there is no firm action against the sale of drugs.” The resolution said, “The drugs should be completely destroyed from the State.”
Referring to the casino issue, the GSM pointed out that BJP, which was initially opposing gambling, is now siding with them.
Gaonkar said casino is against the Goan culture.
In yet another resolution, the GSM held both the Congress and BJP responsible for the current mining crisis and demanded that the mining companies should compensate the workers, who have been laid off following the mining closure.
GSM is of the opinion that the State government should run all the leases by forming Mining Corporation as suggested by the Supreme Court as one of the options in its order quashing 88 mining leases.
Gaonkar said the state government should be transparent on the Regional Plan formation.
“The land use plan should be for long time and State government must start applying its mind as soon as possible,” he said.
