CURCHOREM: A large number of people thronged Curchorem to witness the rich cultural Shigmotsav float parade at Curchorem on Thursday evening.
The Shigmo float parade, organised by Curchorem-Sanvordem Shigmotsav Samiti (CSSS) in association with Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), was inaugurated by CCMC Chairperson Carmelina Fernandes in the presence of Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, CSSS President and municipal engineer Uday Naik Dessai, Quepem Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar, Quepem Mamlatdar Manoj Khorgaonkar, councillors and others.
The float parade, depicting various traditional and mythological themes and colourfully decorated and accompanied by loud music began near the Curchorem railway station and culminated at KTC bus stand after wending its way through the Curchorem market.
A large number of people gathered to witness the rich cultural traditional dances, which were put up by groups of women and men attired tastefully colourful traditional costumes.
The revellers joined the dancer in dancing to the beats of the dhol and other traditional musical instruments.
