Goan shuttlers Sandhya, Sandip, Kamlesh win medals at All India Masters Badminton

PANJIM: Goa shuttlers Sandhya Melasheemi, Sandip Kanji and Kamlesh Kanji put up creditable performances to clinch podium finishes, at the Yonex Sunrise All India Masters Ranking Badminton Tournament at Bangalore. 
Former Goa State champions Sandhya Melasheemi and Sandip won singles medals while Kamlesh Kanji, former State doubles champion, won a medal in mixed doubles category. In women’s singles 35+, Sandhya Melasheemi lost to Aditi Rode 19-21, 19-21 in a closely fought match to settle for silver. 
In men’s singles 45+, Sandip Kanji upset top seed Ajay Salvi in the quarter-finals, winning 21-19, 15-21, 21-19. 
In the semi-finals, Sandip went down fighting to Aditya Ramarao 22-20, 8-21, 21-15 to emerge with a bronze. 
In mixed doubles 40+, Kamlesh Kanji along with his partner Yania Taw gave top seeds Ravinder Singh and Suzanne Venglet a scare, especially in the second set. They lost 11-21, 23-25 to settle for bronze.
