PORVORIM: Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has informed that Porvorim residents would be supplied LPG gas through pipeline by the end of this year.
The Porvorim MLA was speaking at a function held to felicitate meritorious students and sportspersons at the Socorro panchayat hall, recently. He said that he was focused on the all-round development of Porvorim constituency.
On the occasion, he also launched the online house tax payment service, with the help of HDFC Bank that would benefit the residents of Socorro, Penha de Franca and Salvador do Mundo.
“Porvorim will be the third constituency in the state to get gas pipeline. The work of building a 20-MLD water storage tank near housing colony is completed and the work on a 15-MLD water treatment plant will soon commence,” Khaunte said.
“Further, the work order for laying underground electricity cable has been issued. While, the first phase work of the sewerage treatment plant has been completed and the second phase will start from September,” he said.
He informed that the garden near Delfino mart on the Panjim-Mapusa, National Highway would also be renovated with the support of the Tourism Department.
He observed that since there has been a change in the education system and there is also a number of government schemes, youth cam become entrepreneurs.
“The IT policy has been declared and the youth should avail of the benefits of the schemes of Economic Development Corporation. They should start their own business and become job givers,” he said.
