2 hurt in LPG cylinder burst

VASCO, NOV 1 Two persons sustained severe burn injuries, after a LPG gas cylinder burst into flames in their room at Shantinagar-Vasco on Monday afternoon. According to Vasco Police, brother-sister duo, Ramanna Gulappa Huggi (68) Styamma Assangi (65), who have sustained burn injures, have been admitted in GMC Hospital at Bambolim.

Two persons sustained severe burn injuries, after a LPG gas cylinder burst into flames in their room at Shantinagar-Vasco on Monday afternoon.
According to Vasco Police, brother-sister duo, Ramanna Gulappa Huggi (68) Styamma Assangi (65), who have sustained burn injures, have been admitted in GMC Hospital at Bambolim.
According Vasco Fire Bridge Station Officer Bosco Ferrao, two persons sustained severe burn injuries, after the gas cylinder bursted into flames.
Ferrao further informed that one of the inmates had accidentally put on the gas, but failed to light it.
“As a result, gas was released from the cylinder and was accumulated into a cloud formation in the packed room that had hardly ventilation. After few hours, one of the family members put on the electricity switch that resulted into blast,” informed Ferrao.
However, Ferrao clarified that it was not the LPG gas cylinder that bursted into flames, but it was gas the cloud formation from the LPG gas that bursted into flames and it was mainly due to the room, which lacked ventilation.
The intensity of the blast was such that the asbestos sheet of the house was damaged and crack was formed in a dead wall.
Both the injured persons were shifted immediately to Chicalim Cottage Hospital, from where they were referred to GMC Hospital.
