In Goa, besides the government-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) buses, there are hundreds of public buses that are operated by the private owners. Their service is helpful, especially as several buses ply along some routes that are not catered to by the KTCL.
They are some problems, though, such as non-wearing of uniforms by bus drivers and conductors, non-issuance of tickets and sometimes arrogant and rude behaviour and halting at unscheduled stops that inconvenience the public and other motorists.

Only when the time comes to increase their fares, does the bus lobby get a gentle reminder from the transport authorities to follow the rules, and they agree. But once the fares are increased, no one bothers to check and regulate this service.
Hope that the government addresses these concerns since bus owners get a subsidy on diesel. Incidentally, is subsidy on petrol given to taxi drivers, autorickshaws drivers and motorcycle pilots? After all political parties, bank upon them for their votes.
