PANJIM: Raw sewage was seen flowing from a sewerage chamber on the road opposite Krishnadas Shama State Central Library at Patto-Panjim on Tuesday, raising a stink in the area.
People, particularly the visitors of the central library had to walk through the sewage water to cross the road.

“Patto-Panjim sewage system has collapsed as it is overflowing in the middle of the road, even after repairing the chamber by spending lakhs of rupees. Recently a new sewerage treatment plant was inaugurated here spending more than Rs 8 crore. Where is the money going?” former Mayor and senior-most councillor Surendra Furtado asked.
Locals have urged the authorities concerned to carry out repair work at the earliest so as to prevent outbreak of vector-borne diseases in the area.
