PANJIM: Yoga sessions will not be compulsory in schools and institutions this World Yoga Day. 
Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik said it is voluntary, when asked if it is compulsory for educational institutions or other organisations to conduct Yoga sessions on June 21.
“The State governments will be organising at their level and schools, colleges too. It is, however, not compulsory. Yoga is betterment of the overall health. It is for the people to decide whether or not to adopt yoga,” he said on Monday. 
He also said that over 200 countries are expected to take part in the celebrations. “Last year, 199 countries celebrated International Yoga Day. We expect other nations will celebrate this year. Around 4 to 5 countries will be added this year, crossing 200 nations,” Naik said. 
The third edition of the celebration will be held on a mega scale at Lucknow that will see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and ministers besides other people. “There will be live screening at nearby parks as more than 51,000 people are expected to take part in it,” Naik said.
