38 new industrial projects approved

PANJIM: The government has approved 38 new industrial projects in Goa, with a total investment of Rs 2138 crore and probable employment generation of 6500 jobs, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said on Friday, and also announced that the Information Technology (IT) Investment Policy would be unveiled by the month-end.

Addressing media persons, Parsekar said that the 38 projects include the two marinas that have been granted ‘in principle’ approval. “We have allowed marinas with the condition that they should get all the required clearances,” the Chief Minister said. The investment proposals which have been cleared include investments in the pharma, manufacturing and tourism sectors.
Parsekar was speaking in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, on the completion of six months of his government. Parsekar took over as chief minister on November 8, 2014 after then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was shifted to Delhi as the Union Defence Minister.
Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that all 38 investment proposals are pollution-free industries and job creating units for locals. “While according permission, government has made it mandatory that the industries should have at least 80 per cent of its total employees from Goa,” he said.
