Fatorda Block Cong manifesto promises to cut house, trade taxes by 50%

MARGAO:  The Fatorda Block Congress which has fielded 6 candidates in the Fatorda Assembly segment for the Margao Municipal Council elections on Monday released its manifesto at the hands of senior leader Luis Alex alias Mama Cardozo.

Mahila Congress president Beena Naik, the wife of ex-MP late Shantaram Naik was present. The manifesto promises to reduce the House Tax and Trade Tax by 50 per cent in view of the loss suffered by people due to the pandemic as many have lost their jobs and business has too folded up.

It also promised to provide doorstep delivery of certain works such as issuing income/character/ birth/ death certificates and similarly assured to introduce door-to-door collection of house and trade tax.

The Congress panel has also promised to find a permanent solution to the Sonsoddo issue and rectify all the anomalies existing in the current door-to-door collection system so that it is done in systematic and organized manner. It proposes to convert roadside dump yards into composting units. The manifesto also promised to organise “ward sabhas” to have regular interaction between the council and the people.
