VALPOI: A correspondent working for the Gomantak Marathi daily was manhandled by unknown persons when he had gone to cover a musical event organised illegally, on Saturday.
In his complaint to the Valpoi police, the correspondent Dashrath Moraskar said that a musical event was held in the vicinity of his house on Saturday morning where boys and girls were found dancing to loud music and that alcohol was also served at the event. Therefore, he had said, he went to the venue and started taking pictures of the event. However, on noticing this, the organisers asked him to delete pictures from his mobile phone and when he refused to delete the pictures, the organisers manhandled him and snatched his mobile phone. Thereafter, the organisers deleted all the pictures from the photo gallery.
Meanwhile, the president of Sattari Patrakar Sangh Dinesh Karpe led a delegation of reporters from Sattari, to Valpoi Police Station and requested the Police Inspector Shivram Vaigankar to investigate the matter within 24 hours.
PI Vaigankar informed that that he has already summoned the accused for questioning on Monday and that he would take strict action if the accused had violated the law.
