MARGAO: Umesh Lamani, a 22-year-old native of Karnataka was arrested by Fatorda police on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl. The accused Umesh has been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act, Child Sexual Abuse Act, Goa Children’s Act and Section 376 of IPC. He has been remanded in police custody for eight day by a local court.
According to information from the police, a 14-year-old girl was raped by Umesh two months ago.
A complaint was lodged against the suspect on Tuesday by the family of the victim girl after she became pregnant. The police arrested him from his house at Gawlivada in Fatorda.
