MARGAO: The Goa Women’s Forum (GWF), a collective of women volunteers of civic and consumer forums, expressed serious concern over the inaction of the government agencies against the escort service websites promoting sex tourism in Goa.
Although GWF has written to various government agencies about the unprecedented and blatant promotion of sex tourism in the State through the advertising of escort services available in Goa, no efforts have been made to address the problem.
It may be noted that the situation has not changed as the escort service websites have continued selling sex services by offering college girls and housewives.

Although important events like the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) have begun in Panjim wherein VIPs and celebrities are visiting Goa, the GWF said that the government has turned a blind eye to this serious issue facing the State.
Meanwhile, the GWF has decided to petition Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa, who is also the Vice-President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) to intervene in the matter as the novenas of St Francis Xavier will begin on November 25.
