PANJIM: The Opposition Congress Party on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding universal free vaccination to all people and to vaccinate one crore people daily.
Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India, at the Raj Bhavan.

Similarly, both the party’s district presidents submitted memorandums to both the District Magistrates.
In the memorandum, the Congress alleged that the Modi government has completely abdicated its duty of fighting the Coronavirus and abandoned the people, leaving them to fend for themselves. The Union government is guilty of criminal mismanagement of COVID-19.
Later speaking to reporters, Kamat said that vaccination is the only protection in the midst of the raging COVID-19 pandemic and appealed to all not to politicise the issue and to ensure that every citizen of India is vaccinated.
Chodankar said that the Modi government’s vaccination strategy has been a dangerous cocktail of blunders and bloopers. The government had failed on its duty to properly plan for COVID-19 vaccination. “As per Government of India, it has administered 22.41 crore vaccine doses till June 3, 2021. But, only 4.45 crore Indians have received both the doses of vaccine, which is only 3.17% of country’s population. In last 134 days, the average pace of vaccination is about 16 lakh vaccine doses per day. At this pace, it will take over three years to vaccinate entire adult population,”said Chodankar.
