Two held in house burglary case, stolen gold recovered

PERNEM: Pernem Police on Friday arrested Ganesh Mhapsekar, aged 23 years, resident of Nachinola and Firoz Mirawaz, resident of Karaswada and native of Hubli, Karnataka in a house burglary case and stealing gold items, at Paliem.

According to information obtained from Pernem Police Station, Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, on December 31, Hari Palyekar resident of Paliem had filed a complaint stating that unknown persons burgled his house and stole gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh and cash Rs 22,000. Acting on the complaint, teams were formed and began investigation. Later, through local intelligence, the two accused persons were detained and upon thorough interrogation they confessed to the crime.

The police recovered the stolen gold jewellery items in melted form which the accused had sold to one Jeweller in Mapusa market. The police have obtained three days police custody of the accused persons. Team consisting of PI Dalvi, PSI Harish Vaigankar, PSI Vivek Harankar, PC Ravi Maloji and Anish Kumar Poke worked on the case
