Home for clergy, chapel inaugurated at Calangute

CALANGUTE: Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrao inaugurated a newly constructed residence for the clergy and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St Alex Church, Calangute.

CALANGUTE: Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrao inaugurated a newly constructed residence for the clergy and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St Alex Church, Calangute.
The Archbishop-Patriarch blessed the newly built premises in the presence of the Parish Priest of St Alex Church Fr Cipriano Da Silva and ex-priest Fr Carmo Martins, who had initiated the work. Assistant Parish Priest Fr Clifford Cardozo and other priests of Calangute were present.
The estimated cost of the premises is Rs 2 crore, which include furniture, air-conditioners, TVs, etc, to accord comfort to the priests who are in service of parishioners of Calangute. The Church employees, including the sacristan, cook and attendants, have also been provided special rooms in the premises.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Archbishop Ferrao hoped that the comfortable rooms would energize the priests serving the community and help in better co-ordination among parishioners.
On the occasion, the Archbishop released a souvenir, a parish planner, besides a Konkani song book by Fr Da Silva. The three persons involved in the construction activity – Edgar Afonso, Pascoal Noronha and Gopal Dukle were felicitated.
