Sada locals demand permanent solution to garbage problem

VASCO: Residents of Sada met the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer and handed over a memorandum demanding permanent solution to the garbage problem at the Sada dumpsite.
The residents claimed that they have been facing the problem for the past 8 years and alleged that besides the 25 MMC trucks unloading waste at the dumpsite, the Navy too has been dumping additional garbage at the spot.
Some Sada residents claimed that recently the situation has worsened as the dump site compound wall collapsed. The locals blamed the successive Mormugao MLAs for failing to solve the problem.
Sada ward no 1 councillor Sandesh Mesta said, “We are going to meet the Director of Municipal Administration to find a permanent solution to this problem. After the Verna plant is ready, the garbage will be shifted there.”
