MARGAO: The row over the space for the prayer hall in the SGPDA market complex finally stands resolved.
The South Goa Planning and Development Authority Chairman Rajan Naik on Tuesday agreed to meet the demand of the vendors for two sheds in the PDA garage for the prayer hall. Rajan along with the vendors later inspected the garage opposite the parking lot with the vendors expressing their happiness over the PDA decision. In fact, both the PDA Chairman and the vendors thanked each other for their cooperation in resolving the issue.
Rajan told Herald that the PDA has agreed to allot two sheds in the garage for the proposed prayer hall meant for members of all the three communities. “Work on renovation and erection of a wall inside the garage will commence from tomorrow. The material has already been dumped at the spot”, Rajan said.
The PDA chairman has now hoped that all other pending issues, including payment of the maintenance fees by the vendors will be resolved across the table. “We can bring about a turnaround in the SGPDA market if we all cooperate. We except the vendors to pay the maintenance and help spruce up the market”, Rajan said.
Leader of the vendors Felix Gonsalves said the PDA Chairman has agreed to the request of the vendors for two sheds in the garage. “We thank Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, SGPDA Chairman, members and Member secretary, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai, Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, Adv Anacleto Viegas, besides the citizens for their cooperation”, Felix said.
