Traffic signal near Porvorim Church fixed

PORVORIM: The traffic signal at the junction near the Holy Family Church at Porvorim has been fixed and this has come as a sigh of relief to the commuters along this route.
One week ago, Herald had reported about this non-functional signal putting commuters on the route into inconvenience.
It may be recalled that traffic moving towards Mapusa was seen stranded there for a while as people coming onto the National Highway from the other internal roads were moving freely in an indisciplined manner.
First of all being a National Highway, it witnessed volumes of traffic during the entire day making this stretch a deadly spot for the pedestrians as well as for the vehicles plying on this route.
The riders plying on both the sides of the Panjim-Mapusa and Mapusa-Panjim routes of the NH-17 were facing a serious problem at this junction due to this non-functioning signal lights. This junction itself had turned into a complete mess and due to the heavy traffic flow. The locals were finding it difficult to cross the road here and had to wait for several minutes before managing to hop across the road.
