VALPOI: Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Valpoi, M Shivnathan informed that the High Court of Bombay at Goa has granted permission to carry out extensive repairs to the main building and other buildings located in the JNV complex.
Following the order, parents heaved a sigh of relief as the repair work commenced. The GSIDC has estimated the repair work at Rs 8.74 crore.
The estimate was sent for approval and presently three engineers appointed by Navodaya committee are executing the work, Shivnathan added.
It may be recalled that a writ petition was filed by parents of the wards studying in the JNV over the bad state of the school and other buildings.
On the news report appearing in a section of the media regarding the negligence on the part of school authorities resulting in a critical health condition of a student, Shivnathan informed that a show cause notice has been issued to the teacher concerned and staff nurse and an inquiry has been initiated in this matter. He said that there has been no negligence on their part.
CHC medical official associated with JNV, Dr Sham Kankonkar present at the school premises said that medical examination and screening of each child will be done regularly and more stress will be laid on health and hygiene.
