SHIRODA: Thrown open to the public 15 years ago, the Shiroda bus stand is yet to see private buses operating from the same, let alone the crowd.
The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited tried to start operating their buses and private also from the bus stand but due to the opposition from the private bus owners failed to materialise.

With the bus stand remaining unused for more than a decade, there is a demand to construct a bypass road to make it functional.
In order to provide relief from the congestion at Shiroda market, the foundation stone for the bus stand was laid on August 19, 2006. The fully equipped bus stand was inaugurated on August 14m 2008. While Kadamba buses operated through the bus stand, private buses preferred to pick the passengers from the main road. This forced the passengers to abandon the bus stand which later became a den for anti-social elements.
The KTCL took stern action to drive away the miscreants, and has asked one of their employees to keep strict vigil at the bus stand. Except for the Kadamba buses making a stop at the bus stand, the infrastructure still remains neglected.
Thousands of devotees visit the Kamaxi Temple on the occasion of Amavasya (New Moon). As traffic congestions are eminent during the festival, and also during weekly bazaars, the locals have demanded construction of a bypass road connecting the bus stand. This will enable optimum use of the bus stand, claim the locals.
