PANJIM: Ahead of the Zilla Panchayat elections scheduled on March 22, the Goa police effected mass transfers of personnel from the rank of constable to police inspectors.

As many as 409 assistant police sub inspectors, lady assistant sub inspectors , head constables, lady head constables, constables and lady constables; besides 46 sub inspectors and 10 inspectors have been transferred to new place of posting. Among the PIs are Gurudas Kadam, Hiru Kavlekar, Paresh Naik, Pravin Powar, Rajendra Prabhudesai, Ramesh Shirodkar, Sachin Lokre, Sagar Ekoskar, Somnath Mahajik and Virendra Veluskar.
The order was issued on Thursday, incidentally a day before the State Election Commission enforced code of conduct for the Zilla Panchayat elections.
