PANJIM: Veteran Konkani writer Sanjeev Verekar bags Sahitya Academy Award 2021 for his poetry collection “Raktchandan”.
While Yuva Puraskar of Konkani language was conferred to Shraddha Garad for her Konkani Poetry “Kavya Parmal”, Bal Sahitya Puraskar was conferred to Sumedha Kamat Dessai for her short novel “Sumiche Cottangree”.

An award in the form of copper-plague and an amount of Rs 1 lakh will be awarded to Sahitya Academy Awardee where else a cheque of Rs 50,000 along with copper-plague will be awarded to the Bal Sahitya Puraskar and Yuva Puraskar title winner.
The writers were selected on the basis of recommendations made by jury comprising of three members each in the concerned language. The awards were declared based upon the majority vote by the jury, as declared in a press release.
