PANJIM: The 90:10 allotment criteria under the Shack Policy 2013-16 has been placed before the Goa government again, as traditional shack operators are up in arms and issued legal notices challenging the allotment process.
A tourism department official confirming the receipt of the legal notice said, “We have placed the matter for a decision before the government.”
The traditional shack operators Wednesday also met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who has not taken any call in the matter and would seek legal opinion from senior counsels.
The discord has however not deterred other shack operators from procuring on-line applications which were uploaded on the tourism department’s website Tuesday.
Until Wednesday evening as many as 600 forms were reportedly downloaded.
The last date for submission of the forms is Sept 25.
Traditional shack operators insist that all those in the business, irrespective of the number of years of experience, should be treated at par.
and made a part of the 90 per cent category and 10 percent of shacks should be reserved for new comers.
