Bollywood Actress Gracy Singh today flagged off the Shopping and Food Festival (SFF) on the 18th June road, as a part of the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010, to begin on Monday.
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) in collaboration with the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) has hosted the two-year-old event, which is on the sidelines of IFFI.
The inauguration was in the presence of Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava, Director of Film Festival, S M Khan, ESG CEO Manoj Srivastava, President GCCI Cesar Menezes and Vice President GCCI Manguirish Pai Raiker.
Officials informed that more than 200 vendors have participating in the festival.
“The response from the vendors is encouraging. We expect a successful festival as it will offer attractive discounts to customers besides giving on-the spot prizes to lucky winners,” an official said.
Srivastava said, “This year IFFI synergizes global participation, high profile glamour, world-class entertainment and internationally applauded films. We want to extend that excitement and buzz beyond the theatres to the people of Goa. The shopping and food festival will embody the spirit of IFFI with the perfect mix of fun, entertainment, and great cuisine”.
Shoppers can benefit from a variety of discounts at varied outlets all at once. Offers which would have normally been spread out across the year are now being offered in a span of one week.
One lucky shopper stands to win a special gift worth approx Rs.10, 000 from Mahindra Holidays every day, by shopping at any one of the retail partner stores of the IFFI Shopping and Food Festival, both at Panjim and Margao.
Margao had its first lucky winner on November 20, with Jaganath K Hede winning a 2 nights, 3 days stay at one of the top holiday destinations in India
The aim of the festival, like last year, is to provide incentives to all the retailers during this festive season and to simultaneously present fabulous opportunities on shopping for customers.
The industry foresees five percent rise in the business after the SFF as it embraces good response from the retailers and businessmen. The festival surrounds Panjim and Margao city during the whole film fest.
